A working Atari ST inside a blog post with full internet

4 July, 2026 · 127 views

Here's a fully functional Atari ST inside a blog post. It's one of the first personal computers from 1985 and was a direct competitor to the Commodore Amiga and Apple Macintosh (which is why it looks similar).

Go fullscreen

It has full internet and you can double click IRC.TOS and press ENTER twice. Wait to be connected and type /join #pieter and you can chat on irc.pieter.com my IRC server! CAB.TOS is a web browser and should also work but I haven't gotten it working yet.

I wanna show how possible it is to emulate old computers with web technology nowadays (like on Pieter.com with my Windows 3.11 PC) and you can essentially run them on or in anything now (like this blog post). And also it's fun to show how I can make these little dynamic posts on my blog now which seems more interesting than just plain old text posts. A blog can become a scrap book of random projects this way!

All the hard work here is the Hatari ported to WASM (Web Assembly).

P.S. I'm on 𝕏 too if you'd like to follow more of my stories. And I wrote a book called MAKE about building startups without funding. See a list of my stories or contact me.
