I'm the maker of a site to find the best places to live for a digital nomad, a remote job board and a neighborhood map app. I travel to work from anywhere, bootstrap side projects into open startups and only own what fits in my backpack. I also made 12 startups in 12 months. Before that startups, I made a YouTube w/ 100+ mln views. Follow me on Twitter or read my blog. You can buy my book MAKE now.

What if your ambitions are too high?

Jim (from Rasa) and I had this track concept in our head for awhile. With a higher degree of ambition, you will have to work harder to reach it and at some point you won’t have the time or mental resources to have another person in your life. It’s this typical infinite struggle and if the balance goes awry, you end up having to leave that other person. Writing the track in a day and recording the instrumental for it, the title of the track came up quickly as “Verder”. This can be loose translated to “Go on”, as in, the main character has to go on with his life aiming for succes while leaving his former life with his girlfriend.

The video had to fit the concept and thus we thought of visualizing the symbolism of the main character running away from his old life.

To achieve the gold lighting, it was shot in the morning at 5AM and in the evening around 7PM mostly from the back of a moving car in Amsterdam without any stabilization.

The track received 10,000 plays on YouTube and was included on Dutch national radio’s 3VOOR12 Luisterpaal and covered on many Dutch music blogs such as PUNA.

P.S. I just wrote a book on bootstrapping indie startups called MAKE. And I'm now on Twitter too if you'd like to follow more of my adventures. I don't use email so tweet me your questions.
